The ChatGPT dip was a missing label. The label came back.

A drop in the ChatGPT row can be a missing label. Check direct traffic on the same pages before you rewrite the site.

A stack of cream envelopes with the brass sender tag fallen off.

If the ChatGPT row in your report fell after 8 October, leave the website alone until you have checked direct traffic on the same pages.

GPT-6 reached ChatGPT on 7 and 8 October 2026. On 14 October, Search Engine Roundtable reported that many links in those answers had dropped utm_source=chatgpt.com. Cedric Huesler at Adobe found the links also opening with no referrer. With neither signal, analytics files the visit as direct. The person still arrived. The report filed them in the wrong row.

He looked at about 500 pages where ChatGPT had been at least 5 percent of visits. From 9 to 13 October, against the week before, ChatGPT visits fell by about 31,000 a day. Direct visits on those same pages rose by about 26,000. Direct traffic rose on two of every three pages that lost ChatGPT traffic. Search on those pages fell 7 percent, in line with other pages. The interesting number is the pair. A hole in the ChatGPT row, filled in the direct row, is a labeling gap. It is a weak reason to rewrite the page, change the offer, or kill a campaign.

Profound, which stores ChatGPT answers, counted tagged links in about 98 percent of cited answers on 8 October, 75 percent on 9 October, and 66 percent on 14 October. Profound did not publish its sample size, so treat the percentages as Profound's count, not as a census of the whole web.

On 15 October Huesler updated his note. He said the missing tags were a bug, and ChatGPT was adding utm_source=chatgpt.com again. Barry Schwartz at Search Engine Roundtable reported that update the same day. The dip was real in the report. The cause was a tag, and the tag came back. Do not brief a rebuild from a chart that was mislabeled for a week.

The useful move is small, and you can do it this afternoon.

Mark 8 to 15 October on the report. Read the ChatGPT row, the direct row, and the total for the same landing pages together. If the total held and only the label moved, stop. If the total fell, and direct did not rise to meet it, then you have a different question: fewer people arrived, not a missing tag. Those two stories ask for different work. Mixing them is how a team rewrites a page that was doing its job.

Then open the landing page itself, on a phone. A visit from an answer is a cold visit. The person did not see your menu. They saw one sentence and a link. The first screen has to say what you sell, who it is for, and how to start. If it opens on a slogan, the visit is filed correctly and still wasted.

That page is a company website. When we build one, you see the pages, the price, and who owns the code, and you agree the plan before we start. After handover we fix faults in the agreed work for at least 3 months. New features sit outside that cover. The site works on a phone and on a computer. We do not promise a load time for every country.

Search work starts from the pages you already have. It is how a person finds the page that already says what you sell, in Google, in Bing, or in an assistant that cites the web. We usually need read access to Search Console, and access to the site. Do not send passwords in the form. The written plan names the work and the price. We do not promise a rank, and we do not promise that ChatGPT will cite you. We also do not promise that a tag in a link will stay. This month showed that a tag can vanish and return without your site changing at all.

Website care is the line for what happens after the click. A form that fails, a certificate that lapses, or a page that only loads on the office network will not show up as a ChatGPT problem. It shows up as a visit that left. We can look after a site we did not build, after a first look at the code and the host. The plan names the checks and the price. WhatsApp or email, Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00 Western Indonesia Time.

If the thing you sell is an app, the same report rule applies, and the page in front of the app still matters. A mobile app, a desktop app, or an AppSheet app built on the sheets you already use each needs a page that says what the job is before anyone asks for a store link. Store submission is in the plan only when the plan says so. Apple and Google still decide. Anton Maulana leads the AppSheet work and holds Google's advanced AppSheet certificate on Coursera. None of that is a fix for a mislabeled week in analytics.

Do not send us a screenshot of one row and ask for a new site. Send the three numbers for the same pages: ChatGPT, direct, and total, for the week of the dip and the week before it. If you do not have them yet, that is the first task, and it is cheaper than a redesign.

Tell us which pages you sell from. We reply by the next business day. You agree the written plan before we start.
